This is Gloire with masts test-fit. They are built with brass rod lower masts, piano and florist wire upper masts and yards, and styrene fighting tops. I use very thin strips of common paper, wrapped around the joints between the lower and upper masts to finish the appearance, and strengthen the joint.

Close-up of mast joint. I use very thin strips of common paper, wrapped and glued around the joints between the lower and upper masts to finish the appearance, and strengthen the joint. Once the paper is wrapped around the joint, I cover the whole area with super glue, using a scrap of balsa wood to sop up the extra. Yards are afixed to the masts with super glue, then tied on with thread. Once tied on, the whole joint is lathered in super glue.

Here the masts are finished, primed, painted and added to the model.
